Therapeutic Specialties

I am fairly eclectic in regards to my therapy approach but one thing always remains true- you are the expert in your own life. My role is to assist you in figuring out how to navigate it in a way that makes sense (and hopefully happiness) for you. I typically pull from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing approaches but may draw from other therapy theories if it makes sense in the context. 

Although I have experience with many areas of mental health and wellness, my specialties include:

 

Teens and Young Adults- Seeking support around growing up and the struggles connected with maturing as I've spent many years of my career working with this population

Polyamorous and Monogamous Couples- Improving your relationship(s) to build healthier connections

 

Stress and Anxiety- Learning coping skills, challenging behavior, and shifting behavior to decrease anxiety and symptoms related to negative stress

 

Identity- Accepting and forming an empowered identity including race and ethnicity, sexuality, gender, and more

I've had the pleasure to connect to a lot of different people through my work. I think it's because I respect that the people I work with are the experts in their own lives while I'm here mostly to help you sort things out. I don’t believe that therapy is about telling you what to do in your life. I also don’t think that what I may want for my own life is something that I should push on you. Sometimes it can be difficult to find your way out of the forest when all you can see are trees.
